Make perfectly caramelized Brussels sprouts with a sticky, sweet, and tangy orange maple glaze. This side dish is simple to prepare and works well for weeknight dinners or holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or set your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. If roasting, spread the sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet. If air frying, place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.
  4. Roast for 15 minutes or air fry for 10 minutes until the sprouts start to become tender.
  5. While the sprouts cook, prepare the glaze: Whisk together the maple syrup, orange juice, orange zest, and Dijon mustard in a small bowl.
  6. Remove the sprouts from the oven or air fryer. Drizzle half of the glaze over the sprouts and toss to coat.
  7. Return the sprouts to the oven or air fryer. Roast for another 8-10 minutes or air fry for 5-7 minutes, until the sprouts are tender and the glaze is sticky and caramelized.
  8. Remove from heat. Drizzle with the remaining glaze just before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, toss with 1/4 cup toasted pecans or walnuts during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the glaze mixture on the stovetop over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until slightly reduced before tossing with the sprouts.
  • To ensure crispiness, do not overcrowd the baking sheet or air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed.
