Make this simple Southern peach cobbler using canned peaches and cake mix for a quick, warm comfort dessert that tastes homemade.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can peach pie filling
  • 1 (15 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of peach pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the peach filling. Do not stir the layers together.
  4. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the dry cake mix layer, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  5. If using, sprinkle the ground cinnamon evenly over the buttered topping.
  6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream or cream.

Notes

  • This recipe works well with canned sliced peaches mixed with sugar and cornstarch if you prefer less sweetness than pie filling.
  • For a richer flavor, use a butter cake mix instead of yellow cake mix.
  • This dessert is best served warm right after baking.
