Make this addictive, sweet and salty snack mix featuring buttery pecans and a crunchy, caramelized brown sugar glaze. It is simple to prepare and perfect for parties or quick sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Crispix cereal
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large, dry skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, toast the pecans for 3 to 5 minutes until fragrant. Remove the pecans and set them aside.
  3. In the same skillet, combine the brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Stir constantly over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a full boil. Let it boil for exactly 1 minute without stirring.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat immediately. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Add the Crispix cereal and toasted pecans to the glaze mixture. Stir quickly and thoroughly until all the cereal and nuts are evenly coated.
  6. Spread the coated mixture in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and stir the mixture gently. Return to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the praline crunch cool completely on the baking sheet before breaking it into pieces.

Notes

  • For a sweeter, more Southern praline recipe flavor, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the glaze mixture before adding the cereal.
  • This mix tastes best when fully cooled, which develops the hard, crunchy coating. Do not rush this step.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
