My earliest memories are steeped in the aroma of my grandmother’s kitchen in the Midwest. It was a magical place where simple, fresh ingredients were transformed into meals that felt like a hug. Food was love, community, and comfort, all served on a single plate.
As I grew older, my life, like so many others, accelerated. Between pursuing a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and later working as a nutritional consultant, my days became a blur of deadlines and commitments. The tradition I cherished felt out of reach. I found myself relying on takeout and uninspired, quick-fix dinners that left me feeling drained rather than nourished. I knew there had to be a better way.
I began to apply my professional understanding of nutrition to the real-world problem of my own busy life. I wasn’t looking for complicated gourmet recipes, but for practical solutions. I wanted to recreate that feeling from my grandmother’s kitchen—the warmth, the flavor, the satisfaction—within the constraints of a modern schedule. MayaPlate is the culmination of that journey. It is my answer to the question of how we can eat well, live well, and feel our best, even when time is the one ingredient we can’t spare.
